Will Yakima Enjoy This ‘Generic Snickers’ Candy Bar?
Candy is getting too expensive, and I’m not just talking about the fun-sized Halloween type that you give away (that’s always been overpriced).
But I remember when a standard-size candy bar cost only $0.50. And my dad remembers it being around $0.10 or less.
Any time I can find a deal, I’m there for it. And my wife found one (I think).
Taste Test of ‘Great Value Peanut, Caramel & Nougat Bar’ Legal Disclaimer
This taste-testing review is not a paid advertisement for or against this or any type of candy. I’m just a cheapskate who likes candy.
My wife found this ‘generic Snickers’ and wanted me to try it.
Now, full disclosure: the pictures you see in this article are of a regular-size ‘Great Value’ bar and a fun-sized Snickers bar. I just had an extra Snickers bar that I hadn’t eaten yet. Weird, I know.
Taste Test of ‘Great Value Peanut, Caramel & Nougat Bar'
As much as it wants to be a Snickers… it’s not a Snickers.
All of the components are there, but not in the correct amount. Biting into this, I got more Nougat than anything, and the caramel seemed to be an afterthought that didn’t do much thinking.
2nd Opinion Taste Test of ‘Great Value Peanut, Caramel & Nougat Bar’
My wife, who bought it, tried it. She agreed. If you’re craving a Snickers, this will not solve the craving. If you’re bored eating and just want a candy bar, this would do the trick, especially for the price.
Price & Product Comparison of Snickers & ‘Great Value Peanut, Caramel & Nougat Bar’
Going off the Walmart App (when purchased online), name-brand Snickers costs $1.32 for a 1.86 oz. candy versus $0.78 for a 1.76 oz. candy bar.
So, is the taste worth an extra $0.54? For me, yeah. If you’re buying something for the kids who probably won’t notice the difference, no, go the cheaper route.
