Our libraries are one of the last, truly amazing treasures that we have in our society. Where else can you visit, use the internet, do research, borrow the tools to explore new worlds, find a new companions, set out on adventures and just relax... all for free!?!

To help people get back in touch with the "reader" in us all, the Yakima Valley Libraries is running their annual Winter Reading Challenge.

This year's reading challenge kicked off on January 1st and runs until April 1st. New ideas and categories have been curated by the library staff to help give readers choices and interesting opportunities for books that they might not have considered cracking open. The fun comes with the challenge of completing the books and by filling out the book BINGO game card, that can score you some pretty sweet prizes!

Getting The Kids Involved On The Winter Challenge!

This is the first year that the kids can get in on The Winter Challenge with the 'Kids' Winter Adventure Game'! Much like the book Bingo game, this challenges kids to read from six different book genres (vs the 24 categories for adults) as well as participate in various library activities (visiting libraries, borrowing STEM/STEAM activity kits, board games, etc.).

How & What Can You Win in the Winter Reading Challenge?

After you get your Bingo card (which you can print off here), read and fill out the card! When you get one or multiple Bingos or even a blackout (finishing all categories on the card), you'll be entered into a raffle for some fantastic prizes. One raffle entry per Bingo.

Prize up for grabs for adult players include gift cards to Starbucks, Amazon, and Inklings Book Shop. Kids' prizes are collectable reading badges.
