16,243 pounds of raw ground beef products are being recalled due to severe E. coli contamination, which poses a significant health risk.

We were alerted of an E. coli contamination involving walnuts (read about that here), and now a nationwide recall (not walnut related) from Cargill Meat Solutions of Hazleton, Pennsylvania.

The contaminated meat was produced on April 26th and 27th of this year and shipped to and sold at Walmart retail stores nationwide, according to the Food Safety and Inspection Service of the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

If you have the recalled product, you are advised to immediately dispose of or safely return it to the place of purchase and thoroughly sanitize any area the food may have come into contact with.

Please be sure to check your refrigerators and freezers for any recalled product you were keeping for later, especially if you purchased meat from Walmart.

What Are The Symptoms of E. Coli?

Some symptoms to keep in mind are:

  • Fatigue
  • Stomach Pains / Cramps
  • Diarrhea

Symptoms can last from 5 to 7 days, but if they last any longer, seek medical help.
