"Welcome, oh Great Pumpkin!"

Isn't that what Charlie Brown said in that iconic Peanuts cartoon movie, It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown?

My great friends, Iva and Tim Kilgren at Tiva Gardens in Granger say they are overflowing with many 'great' pumpkins and they want to make sure you get one for your Halloween celebrations. Iva and Tim share a large plot of land on their farm property with a nearby family. They grow varieties of vegetables, flowers, and wine grapes. There are so many pumpkins that have grown in the plot that the families are experiencing an overflow. Iva told me that she wants to donate some of these delicious pumpkins as fundraiser sale to benefit the Yakima YWCA*. She reached out to Johnson Orchards and made a deal.

The Kilgrens initially offered to split half of the proceeds of the pumpkin sales with Johnson Orchards and give their half of the cut to the YWCA. Owners of Johnson Orchards said that they, too, wanted to donate their half of proceeds from the pumpkin sales, which means that 100% of the sale proceeds will be donated to YWCA Yakima!

YWCA Yakima not only runs Yakima Valley's emergency domestic violence shelter, but it also offers women transitional housing, job training, child care, and financial coverage for many other expenses incurred when fleeing from a domestic abuser. The nonprofit also hosts anti-racism education and community events in accordance with its mission.

If you want to get one of these pumpkins, here are the details:
