Walla Walla’s Adam West Day 2020 Officially Canceled
HOLY COVID-19, BATMAN!! Another event bites the dust due to dastardly & villainous COVID-19! One of my (and everyone fan of Batman the Northwest) newest favorite events is Walla Walla's Adam West Day. This year it would have fallen on West's birthday September 19th, and have gone through the whole weekend. This would have marked the 4th year the that the city of Walla Walla celebrated "The Bright Knight" . This cancellation is a bummer, but not a complete surprise with other local events like the Central Washington State Fair, Moxee Hopfest, Downtown Summer Nights, Chinookfest & Naches Sportsman's Days all being canceled recently.
In a post on the official Adam West Day Facebook Page:
"It is with a heavy heart that we announce all live events in Walla Walla are being cancelled for the Fourth Annual Adam West Day 2020 that was taking place on September 19th. This was not an easy decision to make but definitely necessary to protect the health of the general public. We do plan, however, on some possible online virtual celebrations so stay tuned for upcoming news!!!!!"
In a bit of good news, the Walla Walla City Council recently approved the statue of West that has been in the works since the actor and home town hero's death in 2017. According to a post on the Facebook Page, private funding is underway for the statue that will be placed in Menlo Park on Alvarado Terrace, also known as Adam West Way (just down the street from where Adam grew up).
