Holy Caped Crusader! Adam West Day Coming to Walla Walla!
Adam West is one of the few celebrities, that when they passed, actually hit me pretty hard emotionally. A giant "POW" right in the feelers, you could say. Growing up, my parents didn't use the television as a babysitter, but, when it was on it, Batman was one of my favorites to watch. I (born in 1981) missed Adam West's era of dawning the cape & cowl (1966-68), but before Keaton & Burton brought Batman to the big screen in 1989, Adam West with his campy take on the Dark Knight, helped instill life lessons to me. He would teach about importance of proper grammar, seat belts, & shark repellent to Robin (Burt Ward) as well as countless others, me included!
As a huge Batman fan I was lucky enough to go to Adam West Day the first year (2017). It was awe inspiring seeing the whole city honor the great actor. Whether you knew him as Batman, or the mayor of Quahog, R.I. on Family Guy, or many of his other works including working on The Three Stooges, it was neat seeing generations of fans coming together to celebrate Mr. West! I'm happy to say, we'll be getting that chance again very soon!
Mark your calendars for Saturday, September 9th, 2023 in the city of Walla Walla, Washington for this years Adam West Day!
"We are still working hard to bring a great event to Walla Walla... See you all on the 9th of September." - Adam West Day Facebook Page
With many great partners and sponsors helping out, this year is looking to be bigger than ever! Past years have seen appearances from the Batmobile, Batcycle, Batcopter, question and answer sessions with cast members from the '66 show, kid and family activities, and of course, the Adam West Exhibit at the Kirkman House Museum in Walla Walla!
Another huge undertaking that the group who puts on Adam West Day has been working on, is funding for a statue to celebrate the life of "The Bright Knight". You can check out the designs and help donate at their GoFundMe page HERE.
