The best friends to man’s best friends at the Yakima Humane Society has a lot on their plates (well, bowls) this month, and we wanted to spotlight a few of them for our Yakima Valley audience.

Yakima Humane Society’s Paws & Pages

If you’ve ever felt selfish about kicking back and taking time for yourself to crack open a good book and get lost in the adventure, YHS has a way for you to do just that and help out another living creature.

Now you can with Yakima Humane Society’s new program called “Paws & Pages”. P&P allows you to book a 30-minute visitation with a pet that needs a little extra love and read them a story.

“Participants can reserve a private visitation room to read aloud to a shy or timid animal — helping build a pet’s confidence while strengthening reading skills in a calm, judgment-free space. It’s a wonderful way to support literacy and provide valuable socialization for our animals — a win for everyone involved!”

You schedule a session with the YHS adoption center at 509-457-6854, and remember to bring a book!
