An Emergency Room For Pets? Yes Yakima Has One!
My little dog Rusty is pushing 12 years old. My wife and I have had him in our family for roughly 10 years, and yes, he’s our “fur-baby.” Although, since we call him that, I just assume that he calls me his “skin-daddy.” It just seems that he would, (my dog can be a smart aleck).
So with him getting up in age, he doesn’t act like it. That’s the problem, he still gets the zoomies, and gets into puppy mode. He runs and jumps on all the furniture, his form of “Bar-kour”, and there’s no slowing him down, until he face-plants.
Usually when this happens, he does hurt himself. If we’re lucky, he slows down for a half hour, and thinks about what he has done. Other times, he’s done, and moves slowly. He refuses to get on any of the furniture and just looks up at us.
Usually when this happens, it’s a Saturday night. I hate to think that he’s hurting and there’s nothing we can do. His normal vet isn’t open until Monday. So, it looks like it’ll be a late night at the Emergency Vet Clinic.
Yes, we have an emergency vet clinic in Yakima. We’re very fortunate, a quick Google search, and the nearest ones that are open 24 hours a day is here in Yakima at 510 West Chestnut Avenue. The other ones are located in Pasco (8913 Sandifur Parkway) and Auburn (718 Auburn Way North).
Depending on your preferred Vet, they may be available, but more often than not, their after-hours phone will direct you to the Yakima Pet Emergency Service. It’s not a bad idea to keep their number handy, with all your other emergency numbers, 509-452-4138. Ever since the pandemic their hours have changed, here is their Website and their Facebook page, to check out, and they do ask, that if possible, you call ahead and let them know you are coming. Let’s just hope you, or little Rusty, won’t need it (again in Rusty’s case).
