5 Shops That Would Be Great At The Former Yakima 7-Eleven
Ever since the 7-Eleven at the corner of 16th and Summtiview Avenue closed its doors, the place has kind of been an eye-sore. We really need a new business to take over that spot. After all, the place has been empty since March of 2022. When the store announced it was closing, we brainstormed different restaurants that should fill that location... you can read about that here. But why does it have to be a restaurant? I can see many businesses fitting in there quite nicely!
When I was talking to my wife about that location, we both went right for amazing food places that would be great in that spot. Another sub shop like Jersey Mike's or Firehouse Subs, another ramen place like Captain Crab out in West Valley also came up, and of course, a Chick-Fil-A. Still have not tried them yet.
But I wanted to think outside the bun, places that that location would be awesome for, besides food! So here are my ideas for shops that would work well there. NOTE: Yes, I joke about strip clubs a lot... but this location is across from a school... so nope, you won't see that idea on this list.
5 Shops That Would Be Great At The Former 7-Eleven
Tattoo Shop!
The building seems like it's the perfect spot and size for a tattoo shop. Whether a new one opens up or a current shop moves to this location. Parking seems like it could be the perfect amount of spots for a couple artists setting up shop there.
Blockbuster Video!
There's been talk about Blockbuster coming back... If it wanted to open up in a smaller type rental store, this would be a great spot! Or ANY type of movie rental, after all, there use to be a Redbox at this location, why not a bigger rental place INSIDE!

Yakima Valley Library!
Speaking of checking things out, how about another library? I love the library, they are one of the beautiful gems that we have and take for granted. Now, you might say that this is too small of a location, but the building is bigger than the Naches location! Plus, it's next to a school, so it could be helpful!
Coffee Bar
Some might say that this is a restaurant, but I can see the differences. I look at this as the type of location where people can meet up for coffee and conversations. No drive-thru needed (which is good, because there's not one).

Recorded Music Store
Let's bring back Off The Record! Especially with the popularity of vinyl growing, I would love a return of the dedicated music store!
***BONUS SUGGESTION!***
Convenience Store
7-Eleven was there for a good long time. Maybe another convenience store could open up shop there. Heck, maybe create a brand new store called 8-Twelve! I'd shop there!
